Healthcare Assistant

I joined St Leonards Practice as a Health Care Assistant in November 2019. Little did I know that within a few short weeks the world would be facing a global pandemic. While this presented challenges in learning new skills and adapting to a new role, it was also an invaluable experience.

Before joining the practice, I worked for 15 years as a Phlebotomist at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. My role involved working in both medical and surgical outpatient departments, as well as on hospital wards. I was also responsible for providing venepuncture training to new recruits and junior doctors. Prior to this, I worked as a Healthcare Assistant in a GP Practice in East Devon.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I am widowed and feel very fortunate to have two grown-up sons and two gorgeous granddaughters, who bring a great deal of happiness to my life.
